William Barret Travis commanded the Alamo. On March 3, 1836, three days before it fell, he wrote to Jesse Grimes from inside the walls. The line on the back comes from that letter, printed in the Telegraph and Texas Register on March 24.
Texas Legends No. 2 as a framed print: the woodcut portrait beside his words: “Under the flag of independence, we are ready to peril our lives a hundred times a day.”
16 by 12 inches, landscape, on enhanced matte paper, in a black, white, or red oak frame, ready to hang. Printed to order.
Portrait after the painting by Henry McArdle (1836-1908).
