Joanna Troutman sewed this flag in Georgia in 1835 for the Georgia Battalion: white silk with a blue star and LIBERTY OR DEATH. It was raised at Velasco on January 8, 1836, and James Fannin flew it at Goliad as the national flag when word came of independence.
The original is lost. It is drawn here from the written accounts, and what they leave out is our reconstruction.
The flag printed edge to edge on a knit polyester wall flag nearly five feet wide, with two grommets for hanging. Printed on one side. Printed to order.
